One Student's Story

Theresia, at age 14, became the first girl in her rural Tanzanian village to go to secondary school. When she graduated, she was told by many that only men can do great things, and that it was time to give up her youthful dreams. But Theresia was determined to put her education to work for her community. With the support offered by her American family, she is now poised to become the first female teacher in her village, and a role model for the generation of girls to follow her. View other stories.
